Shifting Limiting Thought Patterns for Good!
A few years ago, I had a client who was suffering from severely low self-esteem. No matter how much work she put into her endeavors, there was a threshold of success that she dreamed of but could not break into. That vision of success included financial wealth; with that, her drive went much deeper than just her bank account.
Instead of focusing on the earth element aspect of the finances that were blocked for her, we turned to the air element. This allowed us to analyze how her thoughts affected her experience of her life. Naturally, when we face challenges in life, it is normal to direct our attention to where we feel the struggle.
When working with the elements, we have the opportunity to see a problem from various perspectives. As we take time to reflect on how each of the elements fire, air, earth, and water affect one’s life experience, it uncovers the truth in the center. In Alisha’s case, after receiving information about her life, the air stood out to me.
I understood the power of the work she was offering the world. Her discipline toward her goals was remarkable. She had a strong work ethic and could build meaningful relationships with ease. Over time her life experience was generating deep frustration due to her disciplined approach and apparent skills for her work.
This left her wondering why are these less skilled people than me in my field more financially successful and receiving more opportunities to advance with their work. In our sessions, we worked with the body to let go of the stuck emotions and tension with the situation. Allowing relaxation and acceptance to come in so we could get to the origin.
It became apparent through listening to the messages from Aisha’s body that there was a disconnect between her thought patterns and her physical reality. The mentality that she had was so long-standing that she did not see it as a significant factor in her problem. This led her to believe that it was her work that needed to improve.
The trap of the mind that she found herself in was the thought pattern that her work was not good enough. No matter how much she improved, this thought was ruling her energy. Leading to the frustrating cycle of preparing her offerings of products and services all to not feel confident in the final step of exchanging them for money.
We identified the blocked dynamic between the air and earth element. The first step that she took to heal the block was to become aware of her understanding of her finances. In Aisha’s mind, she had become fixated on the money flow. Due to the amount of time she was struggling with this issue, a lack of money was jeopardizing her project.
Using guided elemental meditations it was possible to release the built-up stress about failing due to a lack of funding. By letting that go she was able to focus more easily on the abundance of joy and purpose that her work gave to her. This opened the door for abundance to start flowing in bit by bit.
This first step alone created significant shifts in Aisha’s personal and professional life. After resolving that initial stress, we were then free to move forward, going deeper into the origin of her energy block. I was then able to ask her when her life she started to think that what she created was not good enough.
Within the sessions and using reflective writing exercises, the old thought patterns started to show themselves. Aisha had many of the gifts as a child that she used in her work as an adult. She was naturally highly creative and could translate her wild imagination into pieces of art.
It became clear from her recounting her childhood that this did not impress her parents or extended family. There was a strong push to focus on logic and practical skills. In her family, the story was strong that if you were a creative person you would be broke. She carried this deep in her mind unconsciously for many years.
As we uncovered these unconscious thought patterns, bringing them into the light, I had the opportunity to ask Aisha if she believed this to be true. She felt a clear no. There were many successful creative people in her community. With that clear no, I then asked if she would like to let go of that thought pattern.
At this point when working with a client there is a motivation to let go of certain things. However, there can be resistance because when we let go of something, we are surrendering to the unknown. It is impossible to know how letting go of a thought pattern will affect our lives.
It requires us to surrender to the knowing that it is best to let go of what no longer serves us and trust what happens next. This is when it is very supportive to have an experienced guide walking with you through the change. Aisha confirmed that she felt ready to release the thought pattern that she could see was blocking her success.
For this healing, I created a personalized elemental ritual to facilitate the cutting of the ties to this thought pattern. Aisha successfully released the old story in her mind and replaced it with a new one. As a result of the ritual, her relationship with her parents and family shifted significantly.
She took some space from communicating with them to allow her new supportive thoughts to take root. As this new way of thinking became stronger she received ideas about how to alter her work to better suit her lifestyle. Her project became less about pleasing others and more about sharing in a way that felt good for her.
We continued working together to integrate the change that came from her ritual to ensure the healing grounded in her physical reality. Step by step as she made changes that aligned with a confident successful version of herself, she experienced the transformation. Money began to flow from expected and unexpected places.
To her surprise, the healing impacted so much more than her bank account. It allowed a profound flow in the earth element aspects of her life. She embraced a long-term relationship and started building her own family within the months following our work together.
These sessions with Aisha showed me the immense power of the mind. Our thoughts can build us up to incredible heights of elation or keep us trapped in a prison. The key that the elements teach us to become the masters of our reality is the ability to observe ourselves.
Once we can become aware, there is an opportunity to make a different decision and this is where the transformation happens. It requires a lot of focus and dedication to transform ourselves. By working with fire, air, earth, and water, they show the necessary steps and keep us on the path of embodying our true potential.
